¡Buenas tardes a todos!
Oh my, I don’t know what to say. Just two weeks left now. Things are calm here as far as the weather and such. It looks like we have been staying around 82° F throughout the week. That is fairly hot for everyone here, but I think that we are still in the moderate temperature zone. Anyway, we are drinking plenty of water to keep us hydrated and healthy.
Things have gone well this week. We had the confirmation of Erick yesterday. He got baptized last week, and his father came to his confirmation yesterday. We are now working with the ward to make sure that Erick receives the priesthood soon. It sounds like the Bishop is on that. We have some other recent converts that also need to receive the priesthood, so we’ll see what we need to do there. Erick is a great ‘kid’ and we helped him and his mom start out their familysearch.orgaccount this week. Hopefully they get working on that.
We have a few other families that are progressing fairly well. Some have been attending church consistently now by their own will. Eduardo, one of our investigators, has attended church three weeks in a row now, but we haven’t been able to find him at home to teach him the lessons. Maria and Omar, whom I think I mentioned last week, are progressing but Maria still hasn’t been able to attend church. Hopefully she will attend this week.
Today, I was able to visit Guerreros for a couple hours. We were only able to visit two families, so maybe we will go back quickly next week as well to visit a couple more. First, we visited Hna Lupita Lara. She is a sister that we helped return to activity. She is a really sweet person and always makes time for the Elders, even though she is usually very busy with her Mary Kay network. We then quickly visited the Bishop’s family. The bishop wasn’t home at the time, but I was able to see his wife Yessica and his father-in-law Silviano. It was great to see them again, even though if they were only quick visits.
Well, time is running out. I have just under two weeks left now. It seems like the best always happens right after I leave. We received the news today that Elder Craig Christensen of the Presidency of the Seventy will be visiting the mission on May 16th. Darn! Oh well, I guess that’s how the cookie crumbles. We just need to keep working and push through until the end.
I know this is the work of the Lord. The work that each of us does is so important. We often don’t realize the full impact of our efforts. I know that the Lord loves us, and that he prepares the way so that his children can receive the gospel in their own due time. This is the true church of God. We are blessed to have been chosen to participate in the work during this marvelous time. President Thomas S. Monson is the Lord’s prophet on the earth today. Of this I testify in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
Elder Tyler Gardner
