¡Buenas tardes a todos!
Well, it sounds like this week has been pretty interesting for Utah. Snow and winds make for a good surprise in April. I am still convinced that the weather will get even weirder, or even worse, however you choose to view the situation. Things have been fairly calm here. Today, it looks like we are around 82° F and that will be our high. Most people say that it is really hot today, but I am still saying that these are moderate temperatures. I guess I will see how I do in a few weeks though, now that I am sort of used to these moderate temperatures.
This week has gone well. We had a few good lessons this week, and quite a few of our investigators showed up to church. Right now, we are teaching some families that are progressing very well. We are teaching the mother and the brother of a recent convert, and they have been learning very well. The brother went to church this week and appears to be very interested in being baptized. Also, we are teaching an older couple who like to listen to us, but who find it a little hard to change religions right now. They didn’t attend church, but they did show up for our baptism and they said that they liked it. We are also teaching a few other people who are progressing well and so we are going to focus on all of them this week.
Sunday, we had the baptism of Erick. After waiting a couple of weeks for one thing or the other, Erick has finally been baptized. We now just need to confirm him this Sunday and turn in the Baptismal Record Form to the mission office. Erick was a little nervous for his interview Friday, but all went well and he was really happy after the baptism. Hopefully in the future, all of his family can be baptized as well so that they can all be sealed together.
Today, we went to San Felipe to visit a few people. Unfortunately, some of the people that I hoped to visit weren’t home, but luckily I was able to see the Hna Claudia, Mario, and the Fam Soriano. The Fam Vega weren’t home, and I figure that they were preparing for the probable death of the Hna Consuelo Vega because the Hna Claudia told me that it is probably only a matter of days or hours right now. That was sad to hear, but it is also sort of relieving to know that she might be freed of her suffering and illness in a short time. The Vega family is a strong family and the ward is behind them.
Well, one more week down, and I have very little time left now. Hopefully the Lord will help me to make the best of the time that I have. I know that this is the Lord’s work. It is amazing how the Lord directs His work in every aspect. We are his children, and He loves us. I know that Joseph Smith was and is a prophet of God; the prophet who brought about the restoration of the gospel. There are many other churches which speak of truth, but only in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints can we find the fullness of the gospel. In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
