¡Buenas tardes a todos!
I hope that everyone is having a great day and that all is going well. It sounds like the weather is very pleasant in Utah right now. Here in Mexico City, we are still experiencing March Madness. One can not quite tell if it is going to rain or not because the clouds come and go without much notice. Better to be prepared and not worry about rain. Everyone has noticed that the climate is not the same now. Various changes are taking place. These are just more signs of the times. As always, one just needs to follow the scout motto and be prepared.
Not too much has happened here this week. Things are fairly calm although we have had work to do. This week, we have been focused on helping one of our investigators prepare for his baptism, which we have scheduled for this week. His name is Erick, and he is the son of a recent convert. Erick is really excited for his baptism and has been learning all that he can to prepare himself. We hope to teach his whole family more because he has a brother and sisters who have also been listening to us, but have yet to accept a baptismal date and aren’t yet as motivated as Erick. We will be going with them in a few hours.
I have also had the great chance to meet another recent convert who lives next door to us. His name is Julio, and he is also really motivated to keep progressing in the church. Sometimes, it is a little difficult for him though because he has been affected by a chronic disease that affects his leg, eyes, and his ability to talk. He has to walk with a cane, and sometimes it is hard to understand him when he is talking, but he is a great person and is really sincere. Julio is the brother of our landlord, who is also really nice. Maybe we can help him to go to church with us as well. The problem supposedly is his wife right now. She is a really nice lady, but it looks like she doesn’t want her husband to let go of the traditions that they have.
Today, we went to Buenavista to celebrate the birthday of my companion, Elder Castillo. He turns 20 today. We went bowling and ate lunch there. It also turns out that basically the entire zone went there to go bowling. The zone leaders showed up right after us with another group of elders. We bowled in a place that is called Recórcholies, and we then ate lunch at Sixty’s Burger.
Well, my time is up. I wish everyone a great week and I will talk with you all later. I know that this is the work of the Lord. I am very grateful for the restoration of His gospel and His church. We are very blessed to have the power and authority of the priesthood restored on the Earth today. I know that President Monson has been called of God to lead and guide us today. We will have the great opportunity to hear him and other leaders of the church again in a couple weeks. I know that Christ lives. In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
