¡Buenas tardes familia!
(Next week, we will be having our PDay Wednesday instead of Monday, so that means that I will email Wednesday instead of Monday. I guess President is trying out having PDay after transfers. )
November is now over half way over and time just keeps moving along. Today, schools are closed and many people are at home because of the Day of the Mexican Revolution, which is November 20th. Everybody has today off though because the work/school holiday gets pushed back to Monday by law. Other than that, things have been calm and we have been doing well here. The work is moving along and it is hard to keep up with all of the things that we have to do.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, I did splits with Elder Wagner, my District Leader. We started in the evening and finished the day off visiting one of my investigators, Gabriela. Gabriela is a great investigator who has been progressing well and is sure that the church is true. We taught the Word of Wisdom, and Gabriela’s testimony was evident when she instantly accepted our invitation to live the Word of Wisdom. Experiences like that are what help one remember that the Lord is always preparing his children to receive the gospel at the right moment. Gabriela is progressing rapidly and we are planning to baptize her December 7th.
Yesterday, we had our Stake Conference. All of the stakes in Mexico City, Pachuca and Cuernavaca held their stake conferences and as part of the conference we watched a live transmissions from Salt Lake City. Various authorities talked in the transmission, including Elder Johnson, Elder Benjamin de Hoyos (President of the Mexico Area), Linda S. Reeves (2nd counselor in the General Relief Society Presidency), Elder Richard J. Maynes (of the Presidency of the Seventy), and Elder Niel L. Andersen (of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles). Some of the things they talked about in the conference were the importance of family scripture study, how the church in Mexico can become self sufficient, and the importance of sacrificing the good for the better. All of the talks were great and I hope that the members can remember the things that the leaders of the church taught because it is important to put them in action now.
Transfers are coming up next week. I am thinking that I will probably be transferred, considering that this is my fourth transfer here in San Felipe. I honestly cannot believe that another transfer has flown by. We need to make the best of our time this week because there is much to do and little time to do all of it.
I know that this church is true. I know that this is the work of the Lord and that his hand directs us in His work. It is marvelous how the gospel has been restored today, and it is evident that the Lord is hastening his work. I know that Thomas S. Monson is the Lord’s prophet on the earth today. His inspired leadership impulses the church forward and helps us to know the will of the Lord concerning us as members of His church. These things I testify in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
