¡Buenas tardes a todos!
November is well on its way, and things are moving along rapidly. Although the weather is cooling down a little, things are still fairly mild here… that is, at least for me. My companion always has a light jacket on now and that goes to show that he is not used to temperatures below 70.
This week went well and quite a few things have taken place that I would like to share with you this week. First of all, We had the opportunity this week to get to know one of our new investigators a little better. Her name is Gabriela, and she is very excited to be listening to us and learning about the church. She is already sure that this is the true church and that she wants to get baptized. We went to the Visitor Center with her Saturday and had a great experience with here there. I am so grateful that I was called to this mission, where we have the great blessing of having the Mexico City Temple and Visitor Center. Focusing our visit on the family, we enjoyed a spirit filled hour teaching Gabriela about God’s plan for the family and temples. Right now, we are planning to baptize her December 7th, but we might move her date forward as time permits.
Friday, we had our Zone Conference with Elder Valenzuela. We heard from President Anaya, Sister Anaya, and Sister Valenzuela as well as Elder Valenzuela. The focus of the conference was really working together as members and missionaries to build the kingdom here and now. President Anaya shared the story of how Joshua and the tribe of Israel broke down the walls of Jericho and compared it to the members and full-time missionaries working in unison. Elder Valenzuela then talked about teaching with the temple in mind, teachingand finding, building the kingdom and self sufficiency. We are indeed hastening the work and the call to push forward has not been retracted. I feel that Elder Valenzuela’s visit has given me a clearer vision of my part here as a full-time missionary.
Yesterday, we had a good ward activity to help the members get to know each other a little better and to get more involved in missionary work. Bit by bit, we are helping the members build up the desire and the motivation to share the gospel and strengthen the church.
Well, I need to wrap it up. So much to say, but so little time. I hope all goes well this week for everyone and that you can feel the Spirit of the Lord in your lives. I love all of you. I know that this church is true. This work is divine and is the most important work taking place on the Earth today. The Savior lives and guides this church through the leadership of His prophet, Thomas S. Monson. These things I know and share in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
