¡Buenas tardes querida familia!
Wow, what a surprise it is to see that October is practically over! It seems that the more one tries to hold onto time, the more it just slips through your fingers. This week brings Halloween and Dia de los Muertos. Many people here use Halloween as a party night, and it will be especially festive this year as the thirty first isFriday. Saturday, the first, starts off Dia de los Muertos and supposedly the first day of Dia de los Muertos is the day of the children, so that is when all of the kids will be out asking for candy. Here in San Felipe, the kids head to the avenues and pass by the businesses asking for candy. Dia de los Muertos then ends November second.
So, a little bit of newsy news that we heard about. Elder Oaks and Elder Andersen were here in my mission last week. They came to various wards in the mission and had some training with local leaders. Unfortunately, they did not have time to meet specifically with the missionaries, but it is fun to hear that two apostles were here in my mission recently. It is possible that they are still here, but we haven’t heard any more news about them being around.
This week went quite well. We were able to put four baptismal dates this week and we are expecting to have a baptism this Sunday. Mario is the investigator that we will be baptizing this week. He has been progressing rapidly, and has faithfully completed with every commitment that we have extended. We then have a few other investigators with dates for the ninth and the sixteenth. We are excited about all of this to say the least. We are going to continue working hard to find new investigators and to help our current investigators continue progressing and reach the goal of baptism.
Next week, we will be having our Zone Conference with Elder Valenzuela. If you remember, this conference was rescheduled from a month or so ago. Our zone, Anáhuac, will be having our conference Friday the seventh with the Azteca, Plazas, and Xalostoc zones. Elder Valenzuela is the second counselor in the Mexico Area Presidency. We will be preparing for the conference in anticipation of his arrival. I hope to learn quite a few things with Elder Valenzuela, and his visit should help us as a mission to keep improving.
Well, before I close, I would like to let everyone know that I love you and that I am glad to be serving here as a missionary. These are indeed the two best years, and the two shortest years, of your life. I know that this is the work of the Lord and that His hand directs every facet of his church. We are very blessed to be led by a living prophet today who is Tomas S. Monson. The revelation that he receives for every one of us is evidence that the Lord is in control and that this is His kingdom on the Earth today. I know that Christ lives and that He loves us. In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
Elder Tyler Gardner
Photo… well, who knows how they convinced me to put that wig on and let someone take a photo.
