¡Buenas tardes familia!
Here we are into another week. Things have calmed down now that the fireworks have mostly stopped and the festivities have dissipated. The next holiday coming up is Halloween or Dia de los Muertos as it is traditionally know as here. I think we should be starting in to the ‘cold season’ here shortly, but who knows with how crazy the climate is.
Anyway, this week went well and there are multiple things that happened this week that I would like to tell you about. First off, we had our Zone Conference this week. Elder Valenzuela’s visit has been postponed, so we had our normal Zone Conference with President Anaya. The conference was focused on chapter 10 of Preach My Gospel which covers skills that we should develop as missionaries. Our development of these skills can help us be more effective and powerful teachers of the gospel. These include, but are not limited to, asking questions, using the scriptures in lessons, listening, etc. While it should be obvious to do some of these things, it is always the small things that make the difference. President also reaffirmed that we should have a profound respect for our calling. As the weeks go by, I am seeing just how much of a privilege it is to be a missionary and just how short these two years are.
Today, we had our zone activity. As part of the activity, we watched Ephraim’s Rescue and ate Little Caesar’s Pizza and nachos. I highly enjoyed the movie, and it has a great message. Ephraim’s Rescue definitely lived up to the legacy of 17 Miracles.
In other news this week, we did have a few investigators in church this week. We were also able to go to the Visitor Center Saturday with the sister who rents us our department. Her name is Consuelo and she is one of our investigators. I think she is somewhere around eighty years old, but is very active and is also very kind. In the Visitor Center, we were able to show here some things about the prophets, temples, and eternal families. She told us that she thoroughly enjoyed it and actually plans to take her sister and some friends to the Visitor Center with her in a week or two. We did take a picture while there, as usual, but the sister missionary didn’t email it to me this time so I will see if I can scan it or something and send it to you.
Well, I need to rap up. Glad to here that everyone is doing well. I wish everyone a great week and I want you to know that the church is true. This is the work of the Lord and He is conscious of each and every one of his children. I know that the Book of Mormon is true, and that Christ is our Savior and Redeemer. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
Elder Tyler Gardner
Happy September 15th!
Ough… they caught me in the act.
