Why the Garlic? May 19, 2014

¡Buenas tardes a todos ustedes!

Well, so I jumped the year mark this last Thursday! I guess that is nothing though compared to Grandma and Grandpa’s fiftieth anniversary. Glad to hear that the event was a success and that a great time was had all around. The work continues to go well here. Elder Pardo and I continue working here in the hills of Tulpetlac to find those the Lord has prepared.

Today, we had a Zone Activity, and our Zone Leaders organized a scavenger hunt using scriptural clues, and certain challenges that we needed to complete. We were divided up into teams, and our district was my team. One of the challenges included eating a raw clove of garlic… I ate two quarter slices, or in other words half of a clove, to help my team complete the challenge. Elder Merrill ate three quarter slices. The taste wasn’t bad, but the after burn in my throat bothered me a little bit. Suffice it to say, the whole zone now has a bone to pick with the Zone Leaders, in particular with Elder Sumano.

So, this week, we have been expanding our teaching pool and have been looking for new investigators. The search for new investigators in reality never stops. This week, a couple contacted us on the street while they were driving in their suburban and asked us to come to their house. We obviously said yes and set up an appointment. Also, we are teaching another family who also contacted us on the street a few weeks ago. Both of these families are very open to our message and are showing great interest in the Book of Mormon.

Well, it is time for me to finish up. I wish everyone a great week, and hope that all goes well as you wrap up this school year. I know that our Savior and Redeemer lives. This is His work, and it continues to move forward.

Elder Tyler Gardner
