Jumping the Year! What!? May 12, 2014

¡Buenas tardes familia!

It was great to see you all on Mother’s Day during our Skype call and to talk with you, even if it was only for an hour.  It is interesting how one as the missionary has many thoughts of things to say during the call when planning it out before-hand, but in the moment the mind almost goes blank!  Still though, I am glad that we had the opportunity.  It is hard to think that when our next call comes around, I will be winding down my mission!  Ahhh!  It is true when they say that the mission does fly!
So,  a little bit about this week.  I have been gradually introducing Elder Pardo to the hills.  Saturday, we did some visits to one of the highest points in our area.  Bit by bit he is getting used to the climbs.  One of the elders on the other side of the ward actually got transferred this last Friday because he was having a hard time breathing hear in the hills.  One of the many advantages of being from Utah then, we are accustomed to the effects of high elevations.
Lately, we have been focusing on finding new investigators.  We continue to have quite a few lessons daily, and we have also received quite a few references.  The trick is to find those who are ready and prepared.  I have faith that the Lord will lead us to those whom He has prepared.
Going into this week, I am taking the chance to recommit myself and pick up those things that I have perchance let fall behind.  This week – reaching the year mark – will be a time of retrospection and a chance to set me on track for where I want to be another year from now.  We can always do better tomorrow what we did well today.
Keep up the pace, and keep moving forward!  I know the Lord lives and that this is His work.  The Book of Mormon is truly another testament of Jesus Christ, and should be the keystone of our testimonies.  I testify of the attonement and the power that it provides.  Through the sacrifice that Christ made for us, it is possible to clean ourselves of any mistake or sin and be confident in His presence.  In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
Elder Tyler Gardner
